Elastomeric Bearings are designed for bridge and building construction C under pre-cast concrete beams, steel beam supports and other support points C as local load carrying components.

Jianfeng Elastomeric Bearing Assemblies are custom molded using neoprene or natural rubber and are categorized into three basic designs:

Steel Laminated Elastomeric Bearings

PTFE Sliding Elastomeric Bearings

PR/SR Plain Elastomeric Pad Bearing and Strip

1.Steel Laminated Elastomeric Bearings

The most commonly used bearings in bridges,steel-laminated elastomeric bearings, are preferred due to their versatility and lack of required maintenance.

These pads are manufactured from alternating layers of neoprene or natural rubber and steel sheets and are molded under heat and pressure (vulcanization process) into one unit. can be manufactured in a rectangular or circular shape to meet individual engineering requirements. During vulcanization, the steel laminates are permanently bonded to the rubber.The product has been successfully used in a broad range of applications which include:bridges, viaducts,high rise buildings,stadiums and dams.

2.PTFE Sliding Elastomeric Bearings

PTFE/Steel Reinforced Elastomeric Slide Bearing Assembly

Laminated elastomeric bearings with PTFE sheet bonded on the elastomer:a virgin PTFE layer is bonded to the elastomer to reduce the friction coefficient with the stainless steel welded to the top steel plate.

Combining the superior damping and rotational properties of a steel reinforced elastomeric bearing with the superior displacement capacity of a PTFE and polished stainless steel interface, the horizontal displacement can be as long as the size of the stainless plate will allow.The two-component system consists of a top and bottom assembly. The top assembly is normally a carbon steel sole or embed plate with mirror finished stainless steel seal welded to the underside. The lower assembly is a steel reinforced elastomeric bearing vulcanized to a backing plate with bonded PTFE. To lower the coefficient of friction, dimpling of the PTFE is a common practice to reduce the surface area in contact with the polished plate.

3.PR/SR Plain Elastomeric Pad Bearing and Strip

Plain elastomeric pads are non-reinforced elastomeric pads or strips which resist low vertical load and allow small movements.The simplest type of bearing, they are readily available and easy to install.

They are manufactured from neoprene, natural rubber or polyurethane and are usually cut from large sheets of rubber or are individually molded to any required shape. which can be used in many construction and civil engineering applications to support concrete and steel structures, and where a simple, low-cost rubber separation strip is capable of carrying compressive loads, while at the same time providing translational movement and rotational capacity.

Elastomeric Bearings are designed to accommodate three types of movement:Vertical,Shear,Rotation.To transfer the load from the superstructure(both vertical and horizontal) to the substructure.Bridge with span less than 10m don't normally require any bearings.To accomodate translational movements(expansion and contraction) e.g. movement due to temperature (can be large in steel bridges, up to 300mm); due to dead load & live load especially sloping road; shrinkage and creep etc.To accommodate rotational movements of deck girders. Rotation occurs as the deck deflect under load. Also, some relative rotations occur in composite section due to different properties of concrete and steel. Differential settlement may also cause some rotational movement.To limit forces transmitted to the substructures by suitable design.
